Although Simon doesn't turn one for a couple more weeks, we celebrated his birthday yesterday with a construction themed party while Brian was still home. We did a small party with family from the area plus one family from our neighborhood. We had a simple meal of deli sandwiches, corn on the cob, watermelon and, of course, cake and ice cream. It was a pretty windy afternoon, but not too windy for a bounce house. The kids (and adults) had a blast jumping and playing on the nearby playground. We had the party at a local park and even drew in some kids from the surrounding neighborhood to join in the fun at the end of the night. There were a lot of bees flying around throughout the night and I ended up stepping on one and getting stung on the bottom of my foot. My mom packed the sting with some mud and I nursed my wound while everyone else cleaned up the party mess. Not such a bad deal! Simon brought home some cool new trucks, bath toys, a stuffed bunny and a ball. It was an awesome party!

looks like simon's whole face liked that cake :) looks yummy!!
too bad about the bee sting but avoiding clean up is good - im super scared of bees - i always run away from them - i know the opposite of what they tell you to do - if i'd been there you would have seen big baby me running around - haha
Really cute pictures! I especially like the "Happy Birthday" banner. Did you make it?
you look great jamie!
