Eliza's 4th Birthday Party

(Ignore the quality of the first two photos. We had the camera set to a lower resolution while taking household inventory pictures.)

We had a party for Eliza yesterday to celebrate her 4th birthday a week early.  We're going to be in DC during her actual birthday and we didn't want to miss out on party time with local friends.  She has been talking about having a princess party all year so we went all out.  Brian and I built a castle out of cardboard for the entryway and we invited all of the guests to come dressed as princesses.  We had quite a collection of Snow Whites, Cinderellas, Auroras and others.  The girls had fun dancing along with a princess sing-along video, getting their faces painted, breaking a piñata, playing some games, eating cupcakes and ice cream, making crowns and playing.

  • We had two professional face painters come to the party and they did an awesome job!  The girls chose to have their faces painted like princesses, mermaids, butterflies and flowers.  The moms all had jungle animals painted for African Zumba night at the local Zumba studio and Simon got a pirate face.

After - Our Little Pirate!
  • Eliza chose berry cupcakes for her cake this year.  I made raspberry cake with raspberry, lemon, cream cheese frosting.  They weren't a big a hit with the girls; most left the majority on their plates but ate all of their ice cream.  The parents all liked the cupcakes, though.

  • Piñata Time!

  • Simon found a discarded cupcake on the table and promptly devoured it.
  • Present time: Eliza was thrilled to finally receive some princess slippers and a Rapunzel dress.  She also loves her new tea sets, earrings, art sets, clothes, games and books.

  • Family Photo
  • Gift Bags: all the visiting princesses went home with their own princess bag, a necklace and bracelet set, some princess stickers, candy from the piñata, play dough and a crown hair bow made by my friend, Brittany (the mom with the bird face painting above).  The party was a blast!!
